Winthrop Chamber: Snowshoe Softball

The Winthrop Snowshoe Softball tournament is a popular annual winter-time event. As the name implies, snowshoe softball is an actual softball tournament played in the snow with the participants strapped into snowshoes. Kelda Martensen Exhibit

In February 2012, Door No. 3 will share the talents of printmaker Kelda Martensen by hosting an exhibit of her work and a rare opportunity class with the artist. A national and international exhibiting print and book artist, Martensen is also an instructor at the Frye Art Museum, Pratt and Sev Shoon Art Centers. Methow Arts Presents: Obo Addy & Okropong

African musical history comes to life when master drummer Obo Addy steps on stage. Addy presents traditional songs from Ghana sung in a vigorous call and response style to the accompaniment of many African hand drums and gongo bells. Okropong performs traditional dance and music chosen from the various ethnic cultures in Ghana, including Ga, Ewe, Ashanti, Dagomba and Dagarti. Also included in performances are two original instrumentals featuring lively melodies played on a soft-toned wooden xylophone. Obo Addy multi-tracks himself to create his complex drum orchestra and chorus.
