Kelda Martensen Exhibit

February 3rd - March 3rd

Exhibit continues through March 3

In February Door No. 3 shares the talents of printmaker Kelda Martensen by hosting an exhibit of her work and a rare opportunity class with the artist. A national and international exhibiting print and book artist, Martensen is also an instructor at the Frye Art Museum, Pratt and Sev Shoon Art Centers. In 2010, Martensen's work was featured in an artist book exhibit at Door No. 3. Her work will be returning to the Valley with a selection of prints that feature intriguing layers, lush colors and strong narrative elements.

Martensen's prints seem to contain clues to a past dialog: familiar images are married with a strong design sense, bold color and collaged elements. In speaking about her recent work Martensen says, "My work is rooted in personal fiction – specifically ideas of home and displacement. I handle collage as a conceptual tool for creating anomalous landscapes of layers and unexpected pairings."
