Center of Attention: Thome George wins "Exhibitors Choice" at Cody High Style

Methow Valley based furniture artist Thome George wins "Exhibitors Choice" at Cody High Style, for his pedestal table named Center of Attention.

The exhibit, which concluded the last week of September, is an annual, invite-only event hosted by the Buffalo Bill Historical Center and Cody Western Artisans in Cody, Wyoming. Cody High Style represents a "group portrait" of this regions decorative arts. George makes his home and furniture in the Methow Valley of north central Washington.

Thome George has spent all of his adult life-and some of his youth-in the West. He currently resides in Winthrop, in the lap of the North Cascades of Washington and remains in the awe of the beauty of nature to this day. In his career as a maker of western rustic furniture, he has tried to capture that beauty in his works. Thome’s obsession with natural

elements now extends beyond the purely functional to the sculptural in the form of hanging collages and “stabiles”, as well as architectural elements such as French doors, built-ins, and friezes. In an attempt to pass on his gathered acumen, he teaches both adults and children, in situations ranging from residencies to studio classes.
