Erik Brook's "Polar Opposites" Wins Washington State Book Award

Local artist and author Erik Brooks is a 2011 Washington State Book Award winner for his book Polar Opposites.

The winners, announced today by the Washington Center for the Book, go to seven outstanding books published by authors either born in Washington, or residing here for at least three years.

"Polar Opposites," written and illustrated by Erik Brooks of Winthrop in Okanogan County captures the story of two pen pals, a polar bear and a penguin, at opposite ends of the Earth.

Erik Brooks serves on the Methow Arts Artist in Residence roster, in which he visits regional schools to teach illustration and the art of writing. He is also an active arts education instructor throughout the state. CLICK HERE to view Erik's artist page.
